Six Ways to Prioritize Safety in Food Sanitation Services

At PSSI, safety always comes first. We understand that the well-being of our workers is our number one priority, and we continuously strive to exceed safety standards while delivering top-notch food sanitation services. Here are six practices we follow at PSSI to prioritize the safety of our workers during every sanitation shift, integrating our strong commitment to both worker safety and food sanitation services.

Comprehensive Training: At PSSI, our commitment to prioritizing worker safety begins with our immersive training programs, designed to engage and empower our team members to work safely. A structured, three-stage training process for new hires, along with weekly, quarterly and annual safety and compliance training for all team members ensures they receive the necessary guidance and support to navigate their roles safely during plant sanitation services.

Pre-Shift Stretching: Before each shift, our teams take part in group stretching exercises, emphasizing our proactive approach to injury prevention. Recognizing the physical demands of their tasks within plant sanitation services, these pre-shift stretching routines help prepare our team members both mentally and physically, significantly reducing the risk of strains and sprains while enhancing overall flexibility.

Goal-Oriented Safety Culture: The foundation of our company is our commitment to developing a goal-oriented safety culture. Embracing safety objectives, setting accident-free goals as a team, and celebrating when milestones are achieved all help keep our team members safe and drive our safety culture. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability, we continue to find new ways to work safely.

Hazard Recognition Focus: At PSSI, we train and empower our team members to identify and report workplace hazards, fostering a proactive safety culture throughout our organization. Once a hazard is reported, our team works to identify and implement a safe workaround to mitigate exposure until the customer’s facilities team can complete necessary repairs or remediation, ensuring the continued safety of our workforce.

Innovative PPE Upgrades: As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing worker safety, we continuously invest in innovative PPE upgrades aimed at mitigating potential hazards and minimizing the risk of injuries specific to plant sanitation services. From custom-designed rain suits to boots engineered to provide superior traction and support, or gloves designed for enhanced dexterity and protection, we look to provide our team members with the latest advancements in protective gear tailored for our industry.

Program Innovation: We’re committed to finding new ways to improve worker safety standards in food sanitation services. Embracing continuous improvement, we advocate for sanitation programs that prioritize de-energizing equipment before sanitation begins, reducing risks. Our mandatory lock-out and tag-out protocols, enforced for all team members regardless of their role, support our commitment to hazard mitigation and workplace safety.

We’re dedicated to driving new safety standards while delivering top-notch food safety services. Through comprehensive training, proactive measures, and our safety culture, we prioritize our team’s safety. Our innovative approach to personal protective equipment helps keep our team members safe. By continuously refining and enhancing our safety programs, we ensure that our team members are equipped with the knowledge, tools, and resources necessary to mitigate risks effectively, keeping them safe in the workplace.
